Mixed Media and Collage Workshop – all levels
Saturday, Sept 25

Learn how to hand paint tissue papers with acrylic paint for use in collage.  We’ll be using joint compound to texture papers or canvas.  You will also be introduced to various other textures such as pumice, black lava, glass bead gel, crackle paste, and white opaque flakes.  RSVP by September 17.

Understanding Contemporary Oil Painting Materials

Dana Brown, Artist Representative for Gamblin Artist’s Colors, will present a practical,
hands-on educational presentation on Gamblin Oil Colors. This 90 minute presentation will cover all aspects of oil paints, mediums and varnishes, including:
Color Theory - 2-dimensional vs 3-dimensional color space
Navigating Color Space - Emphasis on Practical Color Mixing
Mineral vs Modern Pigments - How they affect painting techniques
Artists’ Quality Oil Colors - Binder and pigment composition
FastMatte Alkyd Oil Colors – For underpainting techniques and permanence
Galkyd Painting Mediums – Focus on working properties and choosing the right medium
Gamvar Picture Varnish - Advantages of removable varnishes
Indirect vs Direct Techniques - Historical application of opaque and transparent colors
Building Permanent Paintings - Understanding Fat Over Lean approaches
Supports, Sizing and Grounds - How they affect color and permanence
Studio Safety - How Permissible Exposure Level affects toxicity
The goal of the presentation is not only educate participants on oil paints but to provide
information that will enable attendees to create their own personalized palette.

Learn to make cups, bowls, plates or even matching vases, bring your imagination and make sets of anything.  Using clay make a couple of pieces that create a unity together.   Beginning to advanced levels are welcomed.

Brittni Wood Mehlhoff, artist and owner of papernstitch.com, an internationally curated exhibition site for artists and other makers, is sharing the ins and outs of selling your work online. This talk will cover everything from choosing an online venue to setting up shop and making your first sale.  RSVP by October 8.

Acrylic Painting Workshop with Ellen Diamond- all levels

The workshop will focus on the landscape with nature as a point of departure for creating a work of art. Particular attention will focus on the use of color as the element that will deliver a fresh and unique approach, and ultimately a creative and individual painting. Experimentation with the acrylic medium will be explored and used to solve artistic problems.

Photo Restoration & Retouching Workshop

Instructor: Zach Castedo
This class will introduce the powerful image editing tools of
Adobe Photoshop to repair old photos and retouch new ones. Learn
how to remove dust, scratches, and tears from old or damaged
photos, add vibrant color to faded photos, enhance new photos by
removing blemishes and unwanted shadows, removing red-eye,
cropping, resizing, sharpening, adding text or borders, creating
photo collages of multiple pictures, and much more!

Story Telling, Narrative Sculpture
Saturday & Sunday, February 26 & 27

This two day, hands-on sculpture workshop will explore the art of storytelling, using narrative sculpture to explore important themes such as faith, family relationships, completeness, and inner workings. In this workshop, students will explore the figure in sculpture using a variety of hand building techniques with terra cotta clay. The head and the torso will be approached.
